Both the tulip hood and cap are made from high impact plastic which means they aren't breaking anytime soon. Together this kit offers a durable and affordable lens hood option for your lens.
The tulip hood is the best design for preventing lens flare and reducing sun glare. The petals on the hood shade the lens element and aid in capturing the perfect exposure. This means no more over exposed or washed out images. Your shooting experienced will be enhanced. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.
Clever Design
The all metal mounting ring smoothly threads to the lens which allows the tulip hood to snap in. The mounting ring provides access to both the original 40.5mm filter threads as well as larger 52mm filter threads found on the front.The hood is detachable from the mounting ring and reversible for storage, leaving any filters or caps in place on the lens regardless of the hood orientation. This allows you to use the original Sony lens cap or the larger lens cap included in the kit as well as leaving protection filters in place no matter which way the hood is attached.
