Parawood, also known as Rubberwood, is considered to be environmentally sound as it uses plantation trees that have been felled at the end of their cycle of latex production and new trees are grown. The wood, therefore, is harvested from a renewable source. Parawood’s latex production begins when it is about five or six years old and continues until it is about 25 to 30 years. These trees grow to about 75 feet-80 feet high and are extensively used for making furniture. These trees are native to Central America, India and Indonesia.
International Concepts was founded in 1979 as a manufacturer of ready-to-finish furniture. As a 30+ year old company International Concepts has greatly evolved into becoming a leading supplier of both finished and unfinished furniture throughout the U.S. with one mission in mind. Offer the most beautiful, quality home furnishings at a tremendous value. We are based in Thomasville, N.C. (a neighboring city to High Point, NC, the city known and widely recognized as being ‘the furniture capital of the world’), where we employ 200 dedicated North Carolinians.
Parawood is durable, strong, tough and resilient. If well-cared for, it will last for many years.
Low Maintenace
You can use the same methods to clean your parawood furniture that you use to clean furniture made from any other wood. Once a year, you should wash it with a solution of soap and water, taking care to dry it thoroughly with a clean cloth; standing water is the enemy of any furniture finish.
Versatile
Can be bought unfinished or finished. Easy to stain - paint to your own style.
Ecologically Sound
Plantation grown to promote ecological balance. For every tree cut, a new tree is planted as a replacement, harmoniously maintaining natural balance.
