Your speakers may be capable of far better sound than you're getting now. Research shows that loudspeakers sound best when their tweeter is positioned at or slightly above the ear of the listener. A high quality steel speaker stand like the Pangea Audio DS400 not only positions the speaker drivers at the best acoustic height, but it also rigidly holds the speaker for optimal bass performance.
The DS400 uses ultra-strong support piers to provide an incredibly solid and rigid base for compact monitors and other bookshelf-type speakers. As always, Pangea provides huge amount of performance. You’ll have to pay a whole lot more to get a stand that rivals the DS400’s combination of build quality and performance-enhancing features.

Why Steel Instead of Wood?
Pangea Audio's DS400 speaker stand boasts an all-steel design that is far superior to speaker stands made of wood. Most manufacturers make their speaker stands out of wood because it’s inexpensive and easy to work with. But wood is a very poor material for speaker stands, because:
Wood has poor acoustic properties
Wood absorbs and stores vibration energy
Wood slowly releases stored energy, muddying the sound coming from your speakers
Although steel is more expensive than wood, steel is a far better material for speaker stands. Here's why:
Steel doesn't 'hang onto' energy like wood
Steel releases vibration very quickly
Steel won't muddy speaker sound like wood
A well-designed all-steel stand solidly supports your speaker improving image focus, reducing mid-range coloration, and tightening the bass
Speaker Vibration 'Energy' is a Problem
Inside a conventional loudspeaker are piston-type drivers that move back and forth to generate sound waves in the air. Larger, floor-standing speaker cabinets can absorb a lot of this vibration energy. Any excess energy is transmitted by steel spikes into the floor.
However, smaller cabinets are unable to absorb all this excess energy. They require a speaker stand to transfer this excess energy into the floor. With its steel construction and rectangular pier design, the DS400 frees your speakers from energy storage problems that can compromise their sound quality.
Super Strong Rectangular Piers
In the architectural world, non-round columns made of steel called piers support huge structures like skyscrapers that weigh untold numbers of tons. These same rectangular-type columns allow the Pangea DS400 to deliver rock-solid support for all types of monitor loudspeakers.
The DS400 features four rectangular steel support piers, forming an amazingly strong rectangular support structure for improved speaker performance. You will immediately notice the sonic benefits of Pangea’s adaptation of this construction technique, including improved image focus, low mid-range coloration, and optimal bass performance.
Powerful Support for Your Sound
Sand-fillable Support Piers
The Pangea DS400 goes the extra mile in speaker 'energy' control for the clearest, cleanest possible sound quality. All four support piers can be filled with sand or steel shot for even better vibration damping.
Super-strong Steel Top and Bottom Plates
The Pangea Audio DS400 features a 6" wide by 8.5" deep steel top plate to match a wide range of compact or monitor-type speakers. It also has an extra heavy duty, 3mm-thick, 9.75" by 12" bottom plate. These steel plates contribute to the strength of this rigid stand.
The Right Hardware Makes a Huge Difference
Nuts, bolts, spikes, and other hardware hold a stand together and make it perform well. Many manufacturers that use steel columns and steel plates coupling them with cheap hardware that undermines the performance of the assembled stand.
The Pangea DS400 uses premium hardware. The oversize solid metal bolts rigidly couple the support piers to the base. The base plate is solid and heavy and is 3mm thick with welded channels to support the steel speaker spikes. This extra heavy hardware improves the speaker's bass performance.
Isolation Accessories
The DS400 comes complete with adjustable carpet-piercing bottom spikes for easy leveling and for isolating the stand from room vibration. Four soft rubber-like top pads are supplied for speaker isolation.
Choice of Heights
The LS300 is available in three heights. Choose the height that works best with your speakers and with your listening room.
