THE ORIGINAL SINCE 2004
Since the first Tidy Books bookcase was created in 2004, all our products have to tick three boxes: they have to be logical to kids; they have to be original; and they have to be stylish to fit in with the home. We are certainly not interested in making things that look trendy. We want to create timeless pieces which can be passed down through the generations. We're a small business and we are dedicated to always putting our customers first.
HANDMADE WITH SUSTAINABLE WOOD
We don’t use MDF. All our furniture is made to last with sustainable wood and plywood, which is handcrafted to retain its ‘imperfections’. The water lacquer we use allows the wood’s natural beauty to shine through. The way we make our products gives them a different look to the mass-produced alternatives that roll off the production line. You can see all the beautiful knots and grain patterns that give real wood its charm.
GOOD FOR THE PLANET
Like you, we want to look after the planet so being a green business is a no brainer for us. The way we produce Tidy Books products isn’t about showing off our green credentials – it’s about common sense. Not long after starting the business we also discovered that the commonly used acrylic lacquer we coated our furniture with gave off Volatile Organic Compounds that are bad for the environment and can be harmful to health. We immediately changed to water lacquer, a safer alternative. Using water lacquer is part of our commitment to design and make products that look great and are safe for you and the planet. Our products are a lasting investment for your family, and can be passed on. When you buy Tidy Books, you won't be adding to landfill.
SUPPORT A CHILDRENS CHARITY
Every purchase you make gets more kids reading. We’ve partnered with the British literacy charity, Coram Beanstalk to donate a percentage of every Tidy Books sale, and give the gift of reading to more children. Coram Beanstalk places volunteers in schools to read one to one with children who are struggling with their reading.
