The carousel indicators aren't working on iOS—you simply cannot tap them. This is true for http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/javascript.html#carousel itself as of 22nd March 2013 (Bootstrap version 2.3.1).
Tested on a 2012 iPod running iOS 6.1.2 with the latest updates, on both Safari and Chrome.
