Dropped more than that in a month just by cutting out pop.

By eating fewer calories and moving more. Try increasing fiber intake and finding low calorie and high volume foods which make you feel fuller longer. Find a physical activity you enjoy doing, even if it's walking 30mins per day and be consistent with it.
5lbs will be gone before you know it.

This is misinformation. Assuming OP is eating exactly at maintenance currently, 3500 Cal deficit equates to 1lbs of weight loss. Eliminating this much per week would yield 8lbs of weight loss over 8 weeks. OP needs to eliminate 2187.5 Ca per week, or average a 312.5 Cal deficit per day over 8 weeks.

Speaking in terms of Cal-in/Cal-out, you would begin by getting an idea of your current Caloric intake and expenditure. This will allow you to understand whether you are currently in a deficit (weight loss), maintaining, or in a surplus (weight gain). From there, I would recommend pinpointing whether diet or exercise are lacking in terms of meeting your goals.
Some way diet could be lacking:
- low protein intake
- low fiber intake
- not tracking food
- yo-yo dieting
Some ways exercise could be lacking:
- sedentary lifestyle
- inconsistency
A lot of the time, people overdo it and find themselves quitting over short spans. Make small, doable behavioral changes and adhere in a way that doesn’t completely redirect you from how you currently live.
kattak1983 t1_iuk3w8e wrote
Yah that is the harder part , but it helps I have found . If you feeling better mentally you take better care of yourself. I mean I still eat alot but I watch what I eat. If that makes sense. You can do it , make sure you talk to your doctor first before you work on loosing weight. He or she can help.

- add more fruits/veggies to your diet (5 servings a day)
- exercise three times a week or walk 30 min. a day.
- eat mindfully. before you eat anything, ask yourself, am I actually hungry? am I full already?
- do not smoke
- drink (alcohol) in moderation

2 kilos in 8 weeks is very very doable. Add in a small positive change to your life and you should reach it.
kittycoppermined t1_iuk4j7f wrote
This is the answer. Count every calorie you put in your mouth.
Weight loss is largely driven by calories in vs calories out. It takes a lot of exercise to burn off the calories of 2 cookies. A lot easier to just skip the cookies

Whole wheat bread (for morning toast) Soups for lunch and/or dinner.
Focus on food with high water-content like fruits and vegetables and soups. They will make you feel fuller longer. I lost 25+ lbs in ~4 months from making healthier choices and logging the food I ate in an app so I knew how many calories I was consuming. I didn’t stop drinking wine, I just planned for it in what I was eating. Avoided desserts except on special occasions (for me it was easier to abstain from desserts rather than have just a tiny sliver, but it’s also okay to keep eating dessert if you plan for it by eating lower calorie items throughout the day.)

Consistency. Whatever you pick - diet, exercise, etc. START doing it asap, don’t wait for new year’s or anything else, and secondly be CONSISTENT. You don’t have to push too hard or exercise 3 hours a day. Do a little, but stay consistent.
