I guess it could be tempered glass, but I really think metal is probably a better option. If you’re afraid of a metallic taste, nonreactive steel shouldn’t be a problem.

Can you suggest one? I had a stainless steel and it taste terrible. Plastics are hard to wash.

When you say lunchbox, do you mean like a thermos? What kind of setup are you looking for? What did you try before that didn’t work out?

Edit: I don’t know if it’s buy it for life strictly speaking. But I have a stojo bowl that’s super useful and has held up well for a year with no signs of slowing down. It’s silicone with a plastic lid. I wash it at night in the dishwasher, and so far it hasn’t given me any problems.

Im using something like this but the plastic lid always breaks down on the part that bends. I wonder if metal cover with glass body exists.

If you can cook in stainless steel without it imparting a metallic taste, you should be able to store food in it too. I wonder if you got a dodgy product. Double wall insulated stainless steel would be a lot easier to find. Zojirushi is a very, very reputable brand.

Double wall insulated bentos with glass interiors may exist. I’ve just never seen one.
