Hi folks; I work in an office environment and I’m looking for a shoulder bag for my laptop and some basic EDC type stuff (water bottle, sunglasses, headphones and notebook). I absolutely love the look of Filson rugged twill and the briefcase is the perfect size and shape. Problem is, they are asking $450 for it and I have no issue paying for high quality items but that seems excessive even for BIFL standards. Is there anything out there that is high quality, and looks similar?

Maybe Duluth Pack? Much higher quality than Filson. Filson has went so downhill I wouldn’t recommend them for anything.

Interesting. I've been pretty disappointed in the material quality of Duluth, and I absolutely love my filson laptop bag that's been thrown in and out of a work truck and brought into job sites for 4yrs or so. Looks brand new if you dust it off. Only had clothing from Duluth, is their bag quality significantly higher than clothing?

I’m fairly certain you’re referring to Duluth Trading. Duluth Pack hasn’t compromised on quality and her been USA made and still is for almost 150 years

I enjoyed many years with Orvis bags (and before that Gokey). Buy new or look on eBay for a nice used one for much less, search for "Orvis bag".
