I've always wondered how you clean these. It will get nasty after a year or so whether you use it regularly or not, right? How do you prevent that?

That's a great question... I learned the hard way on my first CamelBak.

The key is only put in water (not Gatorade, electrolyte tabs, etc.) and to rinse it out right after use, then hang up to dry.

You can buy a hanger from CamelBak to help with drying, but I just use a metal coat hanger and bend it to fit and keep the bladder open while drying.

I'm still on the original bladder and it looks brand new. Key is cleaning and drying.

When you say rinse, are you rinsing with just water or is there more involved?

Yeah, I just rinse with water! Here are the steps I follow:

  • Dump out bladder
  • fill willth warm water
  • seal shut and shake
  • drain some through the hose part, drain the rest out of the main cap
  • hang dry with something to hold the bladder open \n*

G2g!
