I second the Chelsea Boot for versatility and comfort. The Timberland Chelseas I bought about 5 years ago still look and feel great, even after heavy wear. If you want to get the most out of them, clean and apply a weather protectant to them at the end of each season, and repeat throughout the wear season as needed. Mine are suede so I regularly brush them too.
