You can give advice and not be pretentious about it. Loafers and slip ons are in the same category of shoes so why does OP need to take a stance on which they need? 99% of people will need to look up the difference between the two to actually know.

Wide as a size is a slippery slope. There is no definitive wide, each maker has their own metric. The above is a generalization applicable to many but not all. Brannock is the Lord and we need to preach that with BIFL shoes as buying a 12AA is far superior than just selecting 12 and going about your day if you are a 12AA person. Most BIFL shoes come with Brannock sizing.
