Business Casual Loafers/Slip-ons for walking 5+Miles/day in an office...

I know there have been many threads about shoes and I've looked through them. (I've purchased Allen Edmunds Park Avenue dress shoes from the recommendations I found here).

What I need now, though, is something more comfortable, easy to put on (slip on) that I can walk around an office for 5-8 miles a day in without my feet and legs killing me. I'd like them to be more on the business side than the casual side (I wear slacks and a polo/button down every day).

They also need to come in wide. I've looked at Allen Edmunds loafer options and most either look too formal or way overpriced. My budget is around $200-$300 max.

Not sure exactly what brand, but there are a few companies that make nicer golf shoes (like cole haan used to have some). I’ll bet you can find something that would work in an office but also has a comfortable/rubber sole.

Your question is vague and you need to take a stance.

Do you want loafers?

Do you want slip ons?

Plant your flag as there no in-between. Pick one. Don't be loosey goosey here, you need to pick one.

  1. Allen Edmonds has many offerings in your price range so your overpriced claim is confusing.
  2. You cannot ask about comfort online as that is a personal variable much like delicious pineapple pizza or Norwegian death metal music.
  3. Wide is not a size. https://www.golflocker.com/images/dynamic/Allen_Edmonds/Allen-Edmonds-size_and_fit_guide.pdf is what to use to find your true size as most BIFL shoe makers come in specific widths and you need to know this prior to ordering. Without this, most makers consider anything A to D to be normal and E and up to be "wide".

Foot Joy actually has some nice loafers. With any slip on/loafer, I don’t think you’re going to find a loafer that’s going to withstand 5-8 miles a day. It’s just not what a proper loafer is meant for.

Blundstone low cut shoes. I love them so much! I have very wide feet and think they are perfect, but you have to follow their instructions to order the correct size for wide fit.

You can give advice and not be pretentious about it. Loafers and slip ons are in the same category of shoes so why does OP need to take a stance on which they need? 99% of people will need to look up the difference between the two to actually know.

So putting that much wear on shoes you’re going to have to get them resoled fairly often. I would suggest going for a Blake stitch construction but those can only be resoled so many times. Good year welted shoes will last longer. I would try to find loafers with a nice rubber or vibram sole that is more durable than leather and will give you more grip.

Wide as a size is a slippery slope. There is no definitive wide, each maker has their own metric. The above is a generalization applicable to many but not all. Brannock is the Lord and we need to preach that with BIFL shoes as buying a 12AA is far superior than just selecting 12 and going about your day if you are a 12AA person. Most BIFL shoes come with Brannock sizing.

For loafers (admittedly on the higher end of your price range) is Grant Stone's traveler loafer. I love mine and they have great support.

If the budget is a little tighter, I'd probably go with something cheaper with more foam in it (like Cole Haan, maybe florshiem, something you might see at DSW or Nordstrom Rack).
