If you can find a used “toast-o-lator” (check eBay) you’ll find that it can take bread of basically any length. My grandma had one and for parties she’d slice a loaf lengthwise and pass it through the mighty toast-o-lator. The bread would pass through slowly and toast away as it passed.

There's something to be said for old appliances...my garage fridge is thirty something years old and it's outlasted two newer kitchen units.
