I had that same one, my Gram have it to me when I moved out on my own in the 80s. I finally got rid of it 2 years ago, my husband insisted. It still worked, but the plastic was all busted & it would cause a power surge when I used it lol

Folks had a set of Wahl hair trimmers they’d bought in 79’. Heavy as hell, sounded like a weed eater when turned on. It Cut our families hair for decades. Mostly buzz cuts for us boys. My wedding day, 2015, I needed a fresh buzz cut for the wedding. Mom dropped them off at our house, before the wedding. Two pushes through my hair… they gave up the ghost… no amount of prayer was bringing them back. Finished the job with a quick purchase from Walmart, New Wahl clippers…..They lasted 3 years.

Oh my, that's what you get for committing this violence against potatoes. Electric mixers turn them into glue, get a single wire masher - they last forever, will literally never break, and make edible mashed potatoes.

I have one just like it! The beaters don’t hold in as tightly as they should but it still works great for certain things. (I use a food mill for potatoes though!)

Oh good. I was about to say may it Rest In Peace. My parents have one that looks like it must be from the 60s or 70s. It just keeps working. Amazing product. I hope my kitchen aid stand mixer purchased in 2020 will last as long.

This is something I've never seen - using a mixer for mashed potato. Surely you simply use masher, or at least we do here in the UK!

My father has an older Hobart mixer. It was used when my mom moved here in 1964, so it's at least that old.

My mom used it daily until my sister dropped a pipe into the mixer, it jammed, and melted the motor.

I was maybe 12. Learned to rewind the motor. Still runs today as a daily beater about 30 years later.

Do your mixer a favour: next down time, take it apart and fix it for real. Quality tools are meant to be maintained.
