Okay guys, I am now officially terrified of driving on the highway. I lived in CT for 10 years, then NH for 5 and OH for 3 before moving back to CT this summer. Driving on 84/91 is truly terrifying these days. I don't even want to drive anymore. It seems like every other trip I am nearly hit by drivers speeding insanely on the highway. I almost had to pull over on Saturday after a close call where a Subaru in front of me slowed to ~50 on 84 so I was about to change lanes when an Acura flew up behind me doing at least 120. And then yesterday in heavy traffic on 95 I had to swerve off the highway when a BMW driver decided they absolutely needed the one car length in front of me (with dense traffic up ahead so nowhere for them to go). They cut in front of me without signaling, only to be stuck in traffic for miles. In addition to my Jetta, I have a classic car that I basically don't feel safe driving on the highways for the same reason - every time I'm on the road it feels like I'm putting my life in the hands of whichever random maniac might be weaving through traffic doing 120 in (often) a clapped out Altima. I don't remember driving being this stressful in the past! I ride my bike to work most days so I don't drive a lot, but I worry a lot about my wife who often has to drive to Springfield for work. Anyone else find the roads terrifying these days?
