Santa isn't real. Don't start your kid's life off by a lie. Teach them to trust you. Teach them that magic doesn't exist and neither does religion. Teach them truth.

I'm not wrong. Lying to your kids is detrimental to their social development.

I’m guessing you were lied to often 🤣

I was. Religious parents are terrible. Thankfully I grew up with the internet and was able to figure out that religion and magic is bullshit and that science is the best tool we have fairly early on.

Science and religion aren’t contrary to each other, they go hand in hand.

Negative captain.
Science is based on evidence. Religion is based on faith.
Justagreewithme t1_ixcg32h wrote
It sounds like you are inappropriately grouping all religions into one.
Usedtoknowsomeone46 t1_ixcqdiw wrote
No that's literally the definition of religion lol.
Justagreewithme t1_ixctsf8 wrote
Only as much as it is the definition of science. You believe in science because you believe the evidence presented to you. Some people interpret that same evidence as proof of religion. They are one and the same.
Usedtoknowsomeone46 t1_ixcub7j wrote
False. The evidence presented by science can be repeated and independently verified by a third party.
Justagreewithme t1_ixcweqa wrote
Same with religion.

...No? If it's empirical and peer-reviewed it's no longer religion, it's science.
Justagreewithme t1_ixd0dpa wrote
So you are saying God is science?
Usedtoknowsomeone46 t1_ixd0jfu wrote
Absolutely if you can show me empirical and peer reviewed evidence.

Okay. Literally anything applies -laws of gravity, Big Bang, laws of motion and most importantly, the laws of conservation of matter.

You sound like your fun to be around during the holidays lol.
Radshuvel t1_ixb2lem wrote
No. Santa is too powerful. The fear of getting coal on Christmas teaches kids to be responsible for their actions and comprehend the consequences of being naughty.
Usedtoknowsomeone46 t1_ixb4snb wrote
You can teach that without superstition and lies.
