Looking for a travel business/startup advice

Hi all

I am preparing to launch my travel startup in CT. Its a travel-related product where we aim to conduct overseas tours for the customers.

I want to get advice on the type of insurance coverage the business should have, to cover any unforeseen incidents. And if there is anything we should mention in the contract when signing it with the customers.

Or if there is a startup/business lawyer that I should be discussing this with, please suggest if you know anyone.

Hi there. You definitely should talk to a good lawyer and an insurance agent/broker with experience in international exposures.

Insurance-wise, at a minimum you need general liability insurance that will respond in all countries you plan to operate in, as well as auto liability insurance if you’re going to be transporting people in vehicles/buses. Property insurance for any property owned by the business (computers, etc.)

It would depend on how you structure your business as far as coverage for clients who get sick/die overseas and need to be transported back to the states or have their remains repatriated (as in, you could bake this coverage into your costs and provide it to clients, or you could require them to provide proof of their own travel insurance). Just something to think about.

But again, a licensed agent is the person to talk to about all insurance considerations. Operating in many countries can be very complicated.
