We recently renovated our bathrooms but kept the old medicine cabinets. Applying a matte black finish (spray paint) made it look great!

Yes this works. I have a worn bronze themed bathroom. I was able to recreate same look by spray painting different bronze and copper colors on the exterior white metal surfaces. Probably best to take cabinet out, to do this as this took a lot of spraying.
