Where recently they had a 127 degree record temperature. An elderly couple died in their car that day, there is essentially no place to get out of the blistering heat there, if your car breaks down.

A spectacular sunset captured during my first visit to Death Valley National Park on a Christmas Day a few years ago. I've been to the park several times since then, but never saw sky blow up like this over the badlands of Zabriskie Point.
