How did you get down there? We went a couple of months ago and beach access wasn't a thing, just the boardwalk through the tunnel under the highway.

Did you try going to the state park entrance? Usually you pay for parking and just walk down to the beach, although parking is very limited. Was just there last week.

Yes I did parking was full at first, went back a bit later and was able to get in. This photo is an evening shot

What you’re describing sounds like McWay Falls, which doesn’t allow beach access.

You were at Julia Pfieffer Burns, this is Pfieffer beach, more north, not to be confused with Pfieffer Big Sur. Basically the naming scheme isn’t very creative so it’s confusing
