Yeah, this shot is impossible to get. The core appears SW, while to get this shot OP would need to shoot Hood facing NNE.
dberthia t1_iy1fwlr wrote
Agreed. OP is not being forthcoming about this image. There's no shame in being transparent, but gaslighting people doesn't fly with me.
hasenergy t1_iy1sdpw wrote
Dude really? How is this not composite? So you got the stars, reflection, and Hood in one exposure?
hasenergy t1_iy1sgkw wrote
Still in denial, OP is.

this was shot May 2019 1:47am to be exact. go shoot the milky way and see for yourself. not every milky way photo is a composite. lol
hasenergy t1_iy1ulzt wrote
But you couldn't have gotten this in the same shot as Hood. I have spent many, many nights at Trillium (I lived in PDX for a decade) and there's just no way. And as someone else pointed out, the Milky Way doesn't even orient in the direction in your photo. It had to be blended.
hasenergy t1_iy1vpl4 wrote
Long story short dude it's not a bad thing to blend or create a composite. Just own it. That's the issue we have on this thread.
dberthia t1_iy1vuav wrote
True. Not every one is a composite, but this one is. Any decent night sky photographer familiar with the location can tell you the Milky Way center will never align in this way at Trillium Lake. Not sure why you're insisting it's not a blend, because it's obvious. It's a nice image, just be honest about its construction. lol

I've only actually seen the galactic center once when I was a kid it was very beautiful and I'm hoping to see it again if I can't see it on earth then I'll launch myself into deep space
