Many people don’t know that this is in fact the highest elevation in the US east of the Mississippi.

Driving along this stretch of the blue ridge parkway on a clear day is magnificent. I would recommend it to anyone in the area. Also, you can stop in Asheville for a good beer and meal.

I used to get high there so I could be the “highest person in the eastern US” Two summers of hard work and good times 20 years ago was the highlight of my college years.

Lived there for two summers in my 30’s. Best two summers of my life. Waking up to take a piss and looking down on the clouds as the sun came up was pure gold.
