You get people who are less scared or anxious than others, people 'born brave'.

Which is the braver, the anxious person who is brave or the brave person?

The way I’ve always understood it, bravery is when you aren’t scared of something that should inspire fear in you.

While courage is being afraid of something, but still doing what needs to be done anyway.

He learnt that off Doctor Who though.

I also like the concept of fear times confidence/ability equalling bravery. A brave person is fearful but is capable of overcoming the fear all the same. Meanwhile, an imbalance of these two creates these distortions:

• too much fear with too little confidence = coward
• too much fear with too much confidence = extremely anxious but using excessive force as a coping mechanism
• too little fear with too little confidence = depressed and hopeless
• too little fear with too much confidence = reckless
