So he's saying that because I don't get scared I can't be brave.

In a similar vein, I've always been fond of this quote:
"Being a hero isn't easy or everybody would do it." (source)

The way I’ve always understood it, bravery is when you aren’t scared of something that should inspire fear in you.
While courage is being afraid of something, but still doing what needs to be done anyway.

He learnt that off Doctor Who though.

Isn't that an Atticus Finch line?

Or the quote that goes something like, brave men are like ordinary men but they're brave for 5 minutes longer.
I also like the concept of fear times confidence/ability equalling bravery. A brave person is fearful but is capable of overcoming the fear all the same. Meanwhile, an imbalance of these two creates these distortions:
- too much fear with too little confidence = coward
- too much fear with too much confidence = extremely anxious but using excessive force as a coping mechanism
- too little fear with too little confidence = depressed and hopeless
- too little fear with too much confidence = reckless

Same goes with being stupid and that’s why life is hard.

This is how "fearless" green lantern should be ...
I like his sandman character.
Dying Green Lantern:
"Ring's computer, stop and override emergency recruiting protocol. Replace the "Most Fearless" parameter for "Able to experience High levels of Fear, but able to overcome them", restart emergency recruiting protocol with new parameters" ...

Internated? Don’t think that’s a word (in English, anyway). Was he incarcerated? Or intubated? Hope he wasn’t interred. Edit: Just curious, not trying to be an asshole. Hope things work out for you both.

I like that.

Wow. I never knew Doctor Who pretty much invented the definition.
Sure was Lucky Mark Twain, "Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear" and Nelson Mandela, "I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear" and everyone else ever saying pretty much the same thing watched that Doctor Who episode

I tell this to my young kids almost every day.
“When we are faced with something that is scary but important to do, this is an opportunity to show you can be brave. We’re scared, but we can be brave. Now I’m turning off the lights, get some sleep so you have energy for school tomorrow.” Hours later, they’ve left their rooms and are snuggling with mommy.
