So sorry you're going through this. :( Can you give a little more detail? Male or female? Is kitty good with other cats and/or dogs? Okay with kids? If you don't know these things, it may be best to let a shelter take the cat in so they can verify and find a proper home. You can Google Protectors of Animals in East Hartford and start there. Best of luck.

No it absolutely is not! We got our cats from there and they were all sick and needed a ton of care. It smells disgusting and many of their cats are very I’ll. No place for them to run around. Under no circumstances should you send any more cats there.

Some of their cats are sick because they take in cats found on the street barely alive or who are already sick. They don’t just magically heal when dropped off at shelter, it takes time.

It smells like cats in there….I’m not sure what you’re expecting to smell in an indoor shelter with 20 or so cats. You could clean every hour and it will still smell like cats.

And if you actually had adopted cats from there, you would know that they cover all care for the 6 months or so, I forget the exact amount of time.

Sounds like you have a personal vendetta, but you can’t just lie and make things up.

I did adopt from there and my cat (then a kitten) still has eye issues because of it. They clearly don’t have the facility and staff to care for the cats they take in. I’m just saying don’t give them more work they clearly can’t handle.

I’d love to see how you can prove your adopted cat has eye issues specifically from the shelter and not just because she caught an illness at any point or is a genetic issue. Part of their adoption process is having an independent vet give an exam before bringing cat home.

And if you knowingly adopted a cat with an eye problem and then you’re mad at the shelter….I’m not sure what to tell you. Maybe choose a perfectly healthy cat next time. Or if it developed the eye issue after adoption, it’s either genetic, luck of draw illness, caught something from an existing cat at home, or on you yourself.

We didn’t notice it until we got him home. And at the time he had only been at the cat connection and home.

But trust me I’m not trying to prove it to some random user on Reddit who can’t see how overwhelmed that place is. They can’t handle the work they do.

So the independent vet didn’t notice it either? Again, that’s part of the adoption process before you bring home. If no one noticed until you got home, that’s not on the shelter.
