Does this work for ebooks? I got a kindle recently so not sure if I have to use Amazon or not

Check out your local library for ebooks if you haven't. You can often get stuff delivered right to your Kindle.

If you're in the US, yes. Outside of the US, ymmv.

Here in NL, it's epub, I believe.
