It is a weird common practice for doctors to not tell you information they find while looking for another problem.

Last year at the ER, I had an MRI to check my gallbladder, which needed to be removed. I requested my medical records and found that the radiologist noted I had ovarian cysts and my IUD had shifted and may be less effective unless moved back.

The ER dr didn't mention it because "you weren't here for that." I would have no idea had I not seen the note in my chart.

More recently my husband was in the ER for complications from T1D. A few days ago we got his records and found out they found a UTI, which he still has. Why wouldn't they tell us that? So weird.
