Last night I helped an uncle of mine to extract a video from an ISO file and upload it to YouTube for the family to enjoy.
It was from a family gathering we had in 1993. What made it especially special was that it featured people who have sadly passed: our grandmother, a cousin, and an aunt's husband.
Most of the time people didn't know they were being recorded, so what we got was very much a glimpse into the past: people as they were, with zero posturing.
As an adult, I am so very happy to have this recording, because it came at a time where my grandmother's voice was no longer in my head. But in the video, she's very much alive and happy and in her element.
And funnily, in the video people complained about being recorded. Those that complained ended up being the first to appreciate it now.
So, record everything. Even if it annoys people. You'll be delighted you'll have it.
