I always tried to hold my word as it was really strict in my family to do so. But anyways as i get older i found out that it's am extreme practical tool you can have. I smoked for 2 years. I wanted to stop. What did i do? I just gave my word to myself and i completly stopped. I wanted to be awake every day at 7am. What did i do? i gave my word. Im up in the morning for 4 weeks now. It only works if you never break it. It's interesting cause after i give my word i don't even think of doing these things cause i know i wont do it anyways. It's like cigarettes never existed. It's really important to make it realistic. When i quit smoking i gave my word for 2 weeks to get used to it. Then i made another one for 2 weeks. Then 2 months and so on. The same with getting up in the morning. Its also important to make strict rules. I can wake up later if im ill or if i had to be awake all night for an important reason. You can do it with everything. Going to the gym, studying and so on. That only works if you have strict discipline cause if you break it once it's over forever. You can't beginn again, cause if you break it once, you will do it again

Because it's a terrible life pro tip it's pretty much saying just do the thing you want to do. but addictions don't really work like that, I'm glad it worked for you but most addictions and bad habits don't work like that.

Yes it's that easy. Like you just said just do the things you want to do. Nobody forces you to smoke that cigarete or to eat that burger. It's all a mindgame. Let your mind be stronger than your addiction. If it works for me and other people why should'nt it work for you and others? Of course it will be a lot harder with drugs like heroin where you will have physcial whitdrawal. But the Tip wasnt really meant for heroin lol

You definitely need to study human psychology before you just say oh just don't do it. it's so much more than that. it doesn't work for everybody and it does work for some that's how life is. but making a general statement saying that this will work for everybody it won't.

And also it sounds like you're putting eating disorders and nicotine addiction in a lower class than heroin and meth but addictions are addictions you can be addicted to porn you can be addicted to so many different things and it all has the same effect on your brain chemistry. Some may be harder to kick for certain individuals and some may be easy to kick for certain individuals.
