It's really not that expensive? I work for a CPA, we're charging $150 this year for a return, h&r block is a bit cheaper but they hire people basically off the street and give them basic training, so taking your taxes to h&r is the equivalent of taking it to a high school student who just finished a business course and learned the basics of filing
