The "air" in a sealed bag of chips is mostly nitrogen. Opening the bag is letting oxygen into a mostly oxygen free environment and will cause your snack to go stale faster.

If you don't eat a bag of chips on a road trip before they go stale, especially with a chip clip...you're not a real human. You're made out of Legos and bagels or something
