AI has been around since the 50's, it just means appearing intelligent. ML is a subset of AI where algorithm outputs achieve the same initial goal of AI.

I view ML as a way to create an accurate model, and AI as a way to have a model take decisions in a complex environment without humans in the loop.
There is a large overlap, but you can easily have one without the other.

you get downvoted, but you are right. There is nothing intelligent about an accurate regression model. It is the application of that regression model to a certain task that we anthropomorphize to "intelligence".
