I've done this before. No problem to register but you may not be able to do it online, only in person. And your annual registration period won't restart from today (like inspections do). You will still keep your original registration date for your next registration fee due and will be paying for the time you were unregistered.

Do it online. You get to choose a different mailing address, too.

Best thing is to call your city/town office and find out. Some towns might accept credit cards and some may not. If they do, they can probably mail you the reg & tags.
