I have a small example of how rent is going in Bangor.
I have had 2 neighbors move out recently. I know the 2 apartments and I know the prices. Both are 2 bedroom, although 1 is really meant for a 1 person.
They used to be $775 and $675, everything included other than internet/electric. For this price the apts pretty much made sense for what they were, and they were a good deal. The apts are pretty run down and need a lot of work, but they are certainly livable.
They are now $1200 and $995. As far as I can tell, very little has been done to either apt for new tenants. I think the $1200 got some paint, and a new stove / fridge maybe. The $995 is essentially unchanged, although a lot of cleaning by previous tenants.
So I dunno. It is kind of sad to see, and I know people need places to live. But living where I am living, and see really nothing change other than the price, really makes you wonder about the future.
