Hello! I'm getting a new car soon and I wanna have some fun with my old suv. Are there any easy logging trails or off-roading trails I can bring it to? I'm having trouble finding where I can legally bring an SUV to off-road.

The entire North Maine Woods perhaps? What part of the state are you in and how far are you willing to drive?

Most of northern Maine is dirt logging roads. Get yourself a gazetteer and head north. Take one of the big arteries like the Golden Road, or the Jo Mary road to get back in the woods, then explore some of the little side roads off of that. Make a day of it. Bring food, water, camera, shotgun, bag of weed. Make sure you have a spare tire that has air in it.

Go soon, unless you want to car ski. Most of these roads become snowmobile trails in winter.

Skip the “bag o‘ weed…that’s for losers.

There's not much of an off-roading culture in Maine. There are plenty of dirt logging roads but they are mostly wide and dusty... not really that much fun to drive on except as a way to get somewhere for camping, hiking, fishing, etc. If you have a gazetteer you could pick a smaller road to explore but you are likely to end up at a locked gate or a downed tree. They're not maintained for recreation.

You might have better luck in New Hampshire and particularly Vermont.
