You need to vote.

If you're a woman, your life and well being depend on this election. That's not an exaggeration. Abortion rights are as good as on the ballot. Women in other states that have banned abortion are being denied essential medications on the off chance they might cause an abortion. Women who have miscarriages are being denied the care they need. Even if you yourself might not need to end an unwanted pregnancy, access to basic healthcare is on the line.

LePage knows being anti-abortion is unpopular, so he has downplayed his stance this year, but in the past he has attended [anti-abortion rallies] (https://www.pressherald.com/2014/01/19/hundreds_of_abortion_protesters_encircle_state_house_/) and has the backing of anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ+ supporters (Christian Civic League). He CAN NOT be trusted to preserve our freedoms. He has equated abortion in the past to "killing babies" and vetoed a bill (LD 1247) that would have expanded medicaid and planned parenthood for nearly 14,000 women.

In contrast, Mills has been an outspoken supporter of women's rights to bodily autonomy, and has vowed to protect them, at least in this state. She even made sure abortion services were [covered by insurance] (https://www.plannedparenthoodaction.org/planned-parenthood-maine-action-fund/press-releases/new-maine-law-guarantees-insurance-coverage-of-abortion).

The right to bodily freedom is every human's right. Even in my very blue district I see too many LePage signs. You can't leave this up to chance. Please, please vote. A world without safe and legal abortion is not pretty.

Maine allows same day voter registration, you just need an ID with your address. Find your polling place, take a little bit of time before or after work and swing by. You can make a difference. Keep Maine safe for women.
