Not me specifically but I know a lot of Mainers have little or no experience on the ocean. Perhaps they are intimidated by the summer people but it make me sad how many people are missing out on one of the greatest assets of the state.

I’m one of them. We stayed inland at the lakes and mountains during the summers. Less tourists and honestly I like it better anyway. I’ve slowly been exploring the Maine coast more over the years.

The lakes and mountains are great but so is the coast and they are VERY different. Especially the boating opportunities. Sailing is a great way to explore the coast if you know someone with a boat.

I hate people and yet I've swam in the ocean before. Many a day was spent with me jokingly screaming at it, thinking they had some ulterior motive against me that would ruin my boogie-boarding...
Hell, I'd live by the ocean if the cons didn't outweigh the pros.
