For me it is skiing. The "starter vice" was a million years ago when I first went to a local hill and rented equipment for the day. Hell, maybe even the first time I ever went sledding around 5 years old.
Surprisingly, I never really do this for my keyboard/PC setup. I've been on my "final setup" for 3 years by now, I try to make hardware go for as long as possible. I think right at year 4 I need to buy a new radiator fan, but that's all I am planning on.
But with skiing I'm always upgrading even when I don't really need to, just to restart my gear life cycle. Sometimes I actually come out on top money wise, because my old gear was worth more even with one year used than the new shit to replace it. But it still takes over my life with searching online and watching every single review video I can for every piece of clothing/gear that is involved.
Not too big a deal as it's the only hobby/recreational activity I still spend money on. I just need to be very careful to keep it in check.
