I have been going back and forth between BKE Redux Ultra Lights and Lights for months now. So, 'why not both?'. Giving variable weighted domes a try for the first time. Digging it so far. Lights on index, middle, and thumbs (and Escape). Ultra Lights on ring and pinky.

With the MT3 keycaps I currently have on my HHKB, it makes the board feel much more balanced. I never noticed with with stock profile keycaps, but the angle that the MT3 put on my pinky makes those outer keys feel heavier. So I really like having the lighter weights on those outer fingers.

Anyone else playing around with variable weights in their HHKB?

The pianist inside me wants to tell you to strengthen your weak fingers, but I get it. The thought never crossed my mind, but I'm very interested now.

I hear ya. So I actually play piano, but the reality for me is tucking and curving my fingers to reach the lower row and outer keys is an unnatural angle, which weakens those fingers for me. Plus I can't really use arm weight on a keyboard like I can on a piano.

Honestly though, once I get more used to these keycaps, I might go back to lights under all keys. We'll see.

I tried a variable weight Realforce at a meetup one time and it felt super comfortable to type on so I wouldn't mind having it in the HHKB form factor.

How do you like the MT3 keycaps? Do you find they wobble a lot?

They are super high quality caps. So they feel and sound great. The profile is quite a stark change from OEM HHKB though, so it takes some getting used to. I don't find them to have much wobble at all though.
