trying to understand

Iam from Andhrapradesh, India. Iam a big fan of our local telugu songs and have been listening to them for the last 20 years... However an couple of years ago I started listening to english rock music. I am liking it so far but the lyrics in our Telugu songs are far better than the English songs. Where as the music (the guitar, drums etv) are better in the rock. Am I wrong , can anyone suggest rock songs with good lyrics so I can understand this better. Thank you

It depends on what type of lyrics you are looking for. Not to mention, “rock music” is a very broad category. What bands do you like?

I talking old school rock... Queen ac dc led Zeppelin... Just rock songs with great lyrics

I’d say Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen is up there with some of the best rock lyrics. I love Zeppelin and Stairway (as much as it’s overplayed) has some great lyrics. What Is and What Should Never Be is also a personal favorite for lyrics.

For something a bit different, check out the album Desire by Bob Dylan. Some of the best storytelling around.

American Pie is a song that really moved me when I first heard it.

But I don’t really know what kind of lyrics you are looking for. Many rock songs are obtuse or minimalist in their lyrics, leaving open various interpretations.

I started with we will rock you and bohemian Rhapsody... But will definitely check out desire...

Telugu songs mostly all indian songs are heavy lyrics based... Iam looking for songs with lyrics with deep meaning, strong wording and rhyming.

Dude I don't listen to Indian music and of course it may sound better to you cause it's Indian and you're not translating. Also since you're not from the the West there are some things you may not understand or comprehend due to the culture. Elvis has tons of fans in Japan. Riddle me that one. I can't. I listen to lots of music in Spanish. To me the move songs are deeper but that's cause Spanish is my first language. Like I can't pray in English. Feels empty. But I speak English better than Spanish now.

There are various languages in India and songs in all languages are mostly lyrics based... I am just trying to understand why rock music which sounds so great doesn't have lyrics as good... I don't really think language is the main reason because I can understand English pretty easily
