Lately I've been really enjoying some shubya-kei and j-rock bands, but I've noticed that many of them get most of their Spotify listeners from the US or the UK (bands like Cornelius, Ryusenkei and tricot). They also rarely put out any music videos or live recordings on YouTube, and those don't get a lot of views, too. So, where else do they find listeners? Maybe there are some platforms that are known in Japan only? Or is it that Japanese music just isn't that popular at home?
Also, I'd love to hear some of your recomendations (of any genre, really), my favourites are probably Casiopea and Masayoshi Takanaka.

I've had the same question for over quite some time. I (Colombia) used to use TIDAL and I would rarely find any Japanese music. Jizue, Kikagaku Moyo and World's End Girlfriend are great artists too. Also, if you're into math rock, Elephant Gym and Chinese Football are both great Chinese bands.
