I feel like they just don’t miss. They’ve never made a bad album. People really hated on VLV but critics loved it and I think it’s because critics know to rate the album on what it is and not what want or expect it to be. I think it’s great!

I do too as an avid consumer of music! I know where many of the riffs came from and can identify how much homage is being paid to classic rock n roll throughout the album while using the riffs (or being close enough,) the album itself is musically like a journey through rock history guided with love and admiration; and lyrically like a journey through all the depths one's feelings, mind, and body can go through when committing yourself to a person/thing and hitting a rough patch in that relationship (be it with your wife, your record company, a former band mate, etc). So many strong complicated emotions expressed in a love letter to rock and roll, I also think it's great!
