I’m talking about slapping a lifetime ban on 5 songs that have been over-commercialized, ruined by years of overplay, or simply sucked in the first place.

For me:

  • Blinded by the Light, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band

  • Carry on Wayward Son, Kansas

  • Taking Care of Business, BTO

  • We’re an American Band, Grand Funk Railroad

And the song that most deserves death is:

Rock n Roll all Nite, Kiss

(Honorable mention: the entire Journey catalog)

UPDATE: The people have spoken. After reading many of the 300+ responses, there seems to be a consensus. The below 5 songs have earned their permanent residence in the classic rock audio dustbin.

  • Hotel California

  • Sweet Home Alabama

  • Bohemian Rhapsody

  • (Hate to do it) - Stairway to Heaven
