It's just weird. I look at it all the time from the train and there's like nobody ever there

Very. Surprising. But looks nice and peaceful.

I always wanted to photograph the trains going over Dock Bridge from here.

I did it from the other side at night with a 85mm lens.

Well you can go there or on the street next to NJT headquarters You're just going to need a lens with some zoom

These days a lack of time is my issue rather than anything else.

Another great place. If you ever get around to it and stuff it's go to the Harrison park garage next to the station and go on the roof you can get some great shots there

That's a great spot, lot of railfans stopped using it a few years when some security guards told them to buzz off. One of my personal favorite is Mulberry Commons right where it meets McCarter Highway.

If it’s open and people still haven’t went then wow, but if it isn’t open then that’s why it’s empty. The sad part is I don’t think it’s connected to the rest of the park

Jimmy_kong253 OP t1_j2xx1av wrote

Full disclosure, I don't know if it's officially open but I do see people in it every morning and every day usually jogging or with kids I mean it's all done and ready to go as far as this area I just saw a wide open gate

TrafficSNAFU t1_j2xxbgm wrote

It isn't, I suspect the City has to still get approval from Amtrak and Edison Parking for an easement to connect the two ends.

Jimmy_kong253 OP t1_j2xxylq wrote

It's been years Edison parking just redid their parking gates on that lot a few weeks ago so I guess it's going to be even more years

I thought the developers company behind the Shaq towers bought the land were the park would connect to the other side behind the Newark legal building and the smaller tower next to it. As for Amtrak I can’t see them not approving it but that bridge is pulling up to 100 years old, I imagine them wanting to fix or replace it first then approve.

Yes, the land across McCarter Highway from NJPAC. I think I remember seeing work being done on the bulkhead on the Passaic River over the last year or so.

I hate Edison/Goettsman. They are the biggest stumbling block to Newark progress.

Did they finally remove the fencing that was blocking it off?
