Did he just show up at the White House and ask to see the president. I read that somewhere, also that Nixon made him an "Honorary" member of the FBI. Are there any White House tapes of the event, I'd love to know what they said after he left.

Since Nixon taped everything, I'm sure there are. This is the most requested photo from the National Archives :)
