Just about every house my grandparents lived in since I was born (1981) had wood paneling. And yes, they owned at least 2 couches of that similar design during the last 35 years

Left over from the 70s. Our parents never got rid of anything. The couch also smells like dog mixed with cigarette smell.
80s hair and fashion and 70s architecture and decor. I think that is real wood panelling and not the cheap stuff. Very classy!
My parents did not update much of anything until at least 1989 and then it was just a lighter shade of brown-beige.
