What more do you need to know than Mastriano is an extremist who was on the Capitol grounds on Jan 6th, amongst other awful things he stands for.

You'd think. Fettermans does pretty well, Oz' doesn't give more than two sentences on his opinions, and I really don't know anything about the governor candidates. It's nice to see how passionate they are about their policy's and if they'll stick to it when put on the spot.

Where have you been?

From the web:

"Shapiro wants traditional debates. Mastriano says they’re unfair since they typically involve media representatives who hug Democrats and “trap” Republicans. He proposed debates run by the campaigns. Shapiro said, uh, no.

So, now Mastriano offers a “fair” debate. At a time and place of his own choosing, Oct. 22, Penn Harris Hotel, Camp Hill. With a moderator of his own choosing, Mercedes Schlapp, married to Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union which runs CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Committee. She’s a former White House aide and 2020 campaign aide to Mastriano-endorser, Donald Trump."

Basically one guy, Mastriano has a snow balls chance in hell of getting elected. Even die hard Republicans don't want to vote for a guy so filled with hate that he hates just about every group out there. Meanwhile, Democrat Josh Shapiro has been the PA Attorney General since 2017 and has an impressive record for fighting crime. It is the most lopsided race in decades and thus why nobody is really talking about it.

These are pretty good points. It's wild to see only senator ads, which is why I'm frustrated. Everything these politicians are running on should be wide spread by now. Even with fetterman and oz, without research all ive seen is smear and "I'm you buddy, trust me"

nesquiksand2 t1_iuz9stc wrote

Because they don't want you to know their opinions. They want you to think their opponent is bad, and that they are good. If you really knew his opinions and plans, you wouldn't want to vote for him.

Mastriano is one of the most extreme Republicans running for office. He was caught on video praying for Trump to seize power before the attack on the Capitol. He has posed for pictures in a Confederate uniform. He want to outlaw gay marriage, and is against abortion even in the cases of mother’s life in danger, rape and/or incest. He is a candidate with zero redeeming qualities. And that is why he will lose big come Tuesday.

This is great information, thanks. Being able to blame the lack of a debate or honest debate on a single candidate helps. I'm not great at googling the perfect combo to find the right info, I end up reading so many articles, pages, and watching 15 minute videos to learn nothing.

If refusing to debate is the criteria for not liking a candidate then vote Shapiro. Mastraino won’t debate. Glad I could help!

Okay we're not gonna pretend that I don't understand the shit of our political system. Publicity by wealth, smear campaigns, and voting by blue vs red ruining our democratic integrity. It's not bad for me to call for more transparency.

Certainly not a good light to have shown on you. Republicans are flip flopping to keep democrats down, but there's some things I don't like in the democratic party for me I'm generally trying to find a center left candidate but non affiliates aren't allowed to vote in Primary elections.

It was supposed to be the same debate stage as Fetterman (abc27) but Mastriano refused, broke tradition, and tried to set his own terms. Sad they couldn’t come to an agreement and debate

You aren't seeing Mastriano ads because the guy is so bad he can't raise money. Even the right leaning Super PAC hit pieces against Fetterman are basically saying "Shapiro is ok but Fetterman is a far left wacko!!" because they know Shapiro will win and want to get people to "feel good" about being Shapiro/Oz voters.

Just visit their websites for their platforms and priorities.

You are very welcome. Yeah, the whole PA Gov race has been basically written off as over before it really even started.. so nobody is really doing any coverage, news stories, etc.. and even when they try.. it becomes a soapbox for just one person yelling conspiracy theories as even he knows he has no chance so he just wants his 15 mins of fame. So sadly you really can't find much information anywhere.

Glad I could answer why for you though and thank you for voting.

The dirty little secret is Republicans are completely fine with Shapiro. Republicans don't want to deal with polarization that comes with Mastriano. Republicans will control the state legislature. Shapiro will be the governor. They'll work together and be successful. Everyone wins.

You complain about 2 different things. Debate never happened because dougie dingus is a coward. Info on Shapiro is everywhere. Only the dishonest claim they cannot find the info.

>Shapiro has reported $44 million in spending, including in-kind contributions, eclipsing the 2001-02 campaign spending record set by Democrat Ed Rendell of just under $42 million. He still has weeks left to add to that total.

>Mastriano, in turn, has reported spending of less than $3 million. Shapiro reported having $11 million still in the bank; Mastriano reported $2.6 million.

>Mastriano said Friday that he has not seen a dime of aid from the GOP’s counterpart organization, a frequent gripe of his.

You can thank Dick Uihlein for the sign money: >His biggest donor is the Midwest shipping supply magnate Dick Uihlein and his wife, who are large contributors to conservative causes and gave Mastriano $1 million.

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted so much… I agree. It’s especially difficult to find a lot of information on local candidates.

Now as for Dougie and Shapiro… If you have lived in PA for many years and follow politics, there have been many articles over the years (and even more since last year) demonstrating what kind of person each candidate is. Each person has proven themselves through their actions and scandals (if any) over those years. There should be news articles from local sources out there somewhere. Also, looking at a candidate’s twitter history can help. Many of them are not bright enough to scorch bad twitter history.

Is it even really a secret? The FOP is openly endorsing him, as are some other conservative leaning groups.

Well yeah, that was their whole problem. He is offensive enough that some people LOVE him and were willing to turn out for him in the primaries. Other candidates split the vote and didn't have as enthusiastic following of people who turned out.

The Republican party went so far as to beg people not to vote for him before the primary. So he won because of the situation. But his following is very small and thus, was out of the race before it even started. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/05/10/pennsylvania-republicans-stop-mastriano-00031607

So Fetterman - an actual effective, experienced public servant - is vilified for recovering well from a stroke and messing up some words during his debate with a professional tv huckster BUT, this ignorant iwhite nationalist mastriano goes unchallenged for his refusal to debate an actual public servant. So typical cult coward behavior.

So why am I still sick to my stomach at the thought of another '16 Surprise, waking up with Doug E. Treason as my state governor?

Probably because you know anything can happen and also are aware that there are plenty of people who vote to destroy this country as a joke.

I always say if someone invents a phone booth that cures cancer and puts it out on a street corner.. some idiot would destroy it within a week just to show up those cancer patients and get a laugh. It is the society in which we live unfortunately.

Take solace though in that you would not be alone in thinking it would be among the worst things to ever happen to PA. A large majority would think that.. though only a fraction will actually take the time to vote to stop it from happening.

So your fear, uncertainty, and sick stomach will be common to many people living in PA come election night, mine included. The only good news.. one way or the other, it is almost over.
