Plead not guilty. Go to court. Ask the judge for any leniency they'd be willing to give you. They usually knock it down at least a little bit from my own personal experience.

Yes. Ask for a hearing. I’ve heard they will lower points. IMHO, 83 is fast. Not picking on ya, as I see people going faster. Hope you get the points shaved.

83 in a 55 is absurd, so absurd that had he gone an extra 3, he'd hit the powerball of speeding tickets. From the PennDOT site: https://www.penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Safety/TrafficSafetyAndDriverTopics/Documents/TIPP-Fine-Card.pdf

There’s a chance the cop already cut OP a break and wrote it for 83 when they caught them going faster.

I knew 30+ over was a number no one wants.

Wasn’t sure if the highway he was on was 55mph or 65mph

Your options are plead guilty pay the fine and accept the points. Or plead not guilty, go to court and maybe have a reduction.

28 over is 5 points. You’re one ticket away from a license suspension at that point. It’s in your interest to take the day off of work, plead not guilty and see if you can get things reduced. You may also want a traffic attorney.

Unless there’s some glaring procedural issue or the cop doesn’t show to the hearing I don’t see this getting 0 points. 28 over is really fast. Going from 5 to 4 points would be cutting you a break.

The point system in this case is doing exactly what it supposed to do. Give you a reason other than money to drive more carefully for an extend period of time. You lose 2 points per year.

Being a hard working member of society doesn't give you a pass to drive like a lunatic. If you're in that big of a hurry, leave earlier
