I have been to the Brewery at India point but don't think i'll be going back. don't get me wrong the beer they had was good. I was just shocked they didn't have just regular Gansett

IIRC it’s something about the agreement with the 2 breweries they use (Genesee in New York and a brewery in Wisconsin) that they can’t brew and sell it at the Providence brewery

More to do with RI laws that limit what breweries can sell to product produced on site. Even that is pretty recent - before 2016 only wineries could sell on site.

Yep that's the reason. Taproom permits only let you sell what you actually produce. Otherwise if you're selling stuff you just truck in, you need a liquor license like a full bar.
