I know that, technically, camping on the beaches is more or less prohibited. Yet, I also know people do it, have campfires, gaze at the stars, etc. As a transplant, I’m seeking any insider knowledge on enjoying a night at the sea.

Sandy Neck Beach out in Barnstable MA. Need a permit and it's about a 4 mile hike in, but they'll bring your firewood out to the beach for ya.

3rd beach in Middletown. People drink and have fires there all summer in the evenings. As long as your not blasting music or are shitfaced no one should bother you.
