Tick season will "end" once the days are consistently around 40F. Currently adult ticks are reproducing and will be dormant in the leaf litter in the next month or so. I used to do tick surveillance for the state AMA

I've seen a significant decrease in ticks this summer. They were pretty bad at the start, then it dropped off. Is just local for me, and Do we have the summer's drought to thank for that?

It does not end here anymore. I have been out in the snow and come in with a tick. Be careful always.

A couple of frosts should signal the beginning of the end.

Vet tech here. We pull ticks off dogs and cats year round and see more fleas in the winter because they are trying to find a warm environment (your warm house) as well as a food source (your pet).

When should you stop spraying for ticks? Is doing it beyond August necessary?

I don’t know but I got Lyme disease this summer. I’m on the antibiotics now. The strain was B. Miyamotoi. I’m on Aquidneck island and I got absolutely eaten alive this summer.
